Pz has been planning for some time, and we finally got to meet up in early Oct. Itapos;s gotta be the first time iapos;m out with friends after my foot fracture. For a minute, i was taken aback by the crowd and noise level at Vivocity.

dinner was at the much adored Orange Lantern, though my craze for it has simmered over the years. The company was good, and i missed the girls so much. Lots of catching up, as they updated me on the rest of the class, whom more than half iapos;ve lost touch with.

the later part of the night was spent strolling in the outdoor area.

i hope it wonapos;t be long till i meet up with the busy ladies again. :)

And if youapos;re NOT insane, Vote Obama.

I keep getting emails warning me that Obama is a Muslim. Trust me, he is NOT a Muslim. Itapos;s revolutionary enough heapos;s not 100 white. Holy shit, donapos;t make him a Muslim too. No matter what his middle name is.

But the simple lie is much easier to believe than the complicated truth. The wake of the last ugly swift boat having dissipated, we can hear another one passing by, sowing fear among voters whose interest in politics is a millimeter deep, but who have the same right to vote as anyone else.

Obama had an international upbringing before settling in my beloved Chicago, where he worked helping the poor locals, not building mosques and car bombs.

And if Muslims are inherently bad weapos;re in big trouble because thereapos;s half a billion of them worldwide, including all the Muslim refugees weapos;ve brought over here as a result of our various geopolitical tinkerings in Iraq, Kuwait, Bosnia, etc.

What scares me much worse than some nutball with a bomb is an out of control goverment. Right now thatapos;s what we have. The government borrows too much money; lets special interest groups make policy decisions and even write the legislation; and has a scary unilateral view of military power. McCain is no maverick even though in the Senate he might not have always sided with the GOP. What he did back then was tempered by the votes of 99 other senators. In this role heapos;s nothing more than the current administrationapos;s next pick for the guy with his finger on all the buttons.

By the way, the President is supposed to be the civilian overseer of the nationapos;s military. The Founding Fathers wrote it into the Constitution that way. Heapos;s not supposed to be some guy in a uniform covered with fake medals like some Third World despot. Some of our best-liked Presidents have been civilians. Certainly there have been many who never served as officers. Thomas Jefferson, Abe Lincoln, FDR, even Ronald Reagan, all these non-military guys who found themselves telling the generals what to do.

Then theresapos;s the thing about winning in Iraq. I do not believe this is at all possible. Do not let McCainapos;s lies about The Surge working fool you. The Surge has been a 100 failure. It has not accomplished one bit of its mission, which was to hold the fighting down for a while so the Iraqi government could unify itself, something that would never happen during open civil warfare. It calmed things down but since the Iraqis didnapos;t fix their government The Surge failed to do what it was touted to do.

We put all those lives on the line, kept soldiers away from their jobs, homes and families for all that time, and the Iraqis are still just waiting for us to leave so they can get back to their internecine warfare, carbombs and murders.

Iraq, like virtually all wars except perhaps WWII, is not a football game. We will never decisively conquer the enemy and stroll out of there victoriously. There will be no victory. What will happen is we will eventually get tired of the cost of holding that place together and we will weasel out somehow. Please, Neo-Cons, prove me wrong. Iapos;d love to be wrong on this one. But I am afraid I will not be. McCain will not help this situation at all. Heapos;ll just keep it dragging on.

But heapos;s the rich white guy, and I think a lot of people will vote for him because of that. Which brings me to Obamaapos;s race.

When I was born, there were still segregated schools, whites-only restrooms and the Voting Rights Act of 1964 was still almost a decade away. When I was eight it was a big deal when Captain Kirk kissed Lt. Uhuru on prime-time Star Trek. The first television inter-racial kiss. Their lips didnapos;t even touch on screen.

As a kid I never imagined Iapos;d live to see the day a black person would even be nominated for this highest office in our country. Even someone whoapos;s half-white, half-black.

I will be planning a vacation day for November 5. Either way this is too much for little old me to handle. And I voted already just to get it over with.

do you know, I can say that I kinda know someone in space? how COOL is that? lol Richard Garriot, the current space tourist, is a SCAdian- kindof honorary, but he lets them use his land- in fact, he built a 3/4 scale Globe theatre on his property thatapos;s pretty darn amazing... And though I donapos;t really do that anymore, I can say I got SUPREMELY toasted because he pours really strong drinks...

I feel like what i say doesnapos;t really ever matter.

So i kind of need to just write how iapos;m feeling right now.

Iapos;m feeling really betrayed and left out and angry. I donapos;t understand how parents could just make plans to move away from their seventeen year old daughter and make the assumption that i will have somewhere to stay. There was never even a thought in their head that iapos;d be coming with them. Of course, i wouldnapos;t come with them even if they HAD assumed i was coming. But still, itapos;s the principle of the matter and it just goes to show how good of parents they are. What if me and Kyle break up and i have nowhere to stay because of their fucking stupid plans that make no sense in terms of being fucking realistic and responsible.
It just really upset me because, although iapos;ve never really had a home before, i feel comfortable here. And all my life iapos;ve been forced to move from one uncomfortable place to another, with people that i didnapos;t know [or want to know, for that matter.] And itapos;s just getting torn from underneath me without a second thought.
I know iapos;m just a mouth to feed here. I canapos;t even say that iapos;m "another person to support" for them, because they donapos;t support me. They let me sleep here, thatapos;s it.
Itapos;s just really fucked up.

I want to drop out of school and sign up for a twilight school which is 3-6 every day. Iapos;m really thinking about it but it makes me sick to my stomach with nerves every time i do. I feel like right now is the time that i make my decisions on how i want my life to turn out, and iapos;m making all the wrong ones. I feel like a piece of shit. And that feeling is a really sucky feeling. Iapos;m scared that if i drop out i wonapos;t get a good job. I wonapos;t go anywhere. Etc. But right now, while iapos;m in school, iapos;ve been missing a lot of days again and have been finding it increasingly hard to be happy where iapos;m at. I feel like a change of scenery would really help my personal happiness right now.

But, should a person choose the road to happiness for their life, or the road of structure?

I donapos;t know, i brought it up last night but i got nothing from you.

If i do go to this twilight school iapos;d be able to sleep in the morning, which would be awesome. And as soon as i get out of school Kyle would be getting out of work so it would be a lot better than waiting around for him for hours. But if i got a job [which i would have to if i went to twilight school because thatapos;s too much free time for me, i need something to do with myself] while in twilight school my hours would definitely make it so that iapos;m not able to see kyle.

Thereapos;s ALWAYS fucking SOMETHING, isnapos;t there?
NEVER is there a time when things are just fucking OKAY.

With lots of work to do, it follows that I have lots of pages to read. In attempting to read, I frequently become drowsy after a few pages, leading to endless frustration. In an attempt to combat this effect, I drink a large homemade espresso drink to wake me up. I am woken up, but then unable to focus on anything for more than 10 seconds and become extremely jittery and incoherent. I have lost my ability for super concentration that I once had in high school. At least I have some sort of history of thinking clearly and quickly.

So thereapos;s this gigantic Korean mall right near where we live that weapos;ve never been to. I love Korean food and Dad wanted Family Bonding Tiemz, so he took me there today after Gillian came over. AAAAAAAH IT WAS SO COOL We went completely crazy in the Asian supermarket. Holy crap. By the end of the week Momapos;s going to have to know how to make unagi, because we brought her home two frozen eels. Also about ten pounds of various kinds of instant noodles for Led-boyapos;s birthday present. Also copious amounts of candy. Also stuff from a... Korean/German bakery? I donapos;t even know. It was pretty tasty, though.

We ate shabu shabu for dinner. Basically, itapos;s like fondue, except itapos;s broth, not oil, in the middle and itapos;s more of a build-your-own-soup kind of thing. The little place we found grew all its vegetables organically and locally, which made my dad joyful, and wow but the food was good. We ate so much, it was all so delicious. I think I like Korean food even better than Japanese sometimes. Possibly because they have the German penchant for cabbage and pickling things? I donapos;t know. XD

So What with movie night on Saturday, Katapos;s on Sunday, and Gillian and this on Monday, this weekend was pretty amazing. ^_________^ Yapos;know, I really love that I have weekends this year. I remember having no sanity this time last year, what with the two jobs and everything; but now, I get to slack off two days a week, and I think I am a better-adjusted person because of it. I canapos;t wait for next weekend, either Woo
